Home-coming, henna and wedding

  1. Looking through the train's window and catching a glimpse of Papa almost immediately, inspite of the crowd. He hasn't seen me though, and is still searching... and then when we reach home, getting out of the car to open the gate and looking up to see mum and Aaji waving from the window...
  2. The smell of henna... and the way Meenal looks happy at being a bride...
  3. The news of another wedding in the offing...

I like the thought of the smell of henna. What does it smell like? A description please.

Wow, that's difficult! I don't know anything else that smells like henna....!
Why don't you do one thing - drop in an Indian store, buy a packet of henna powder, or better still, you get readymade paste, which can be used directly for making the mehendi patterns, and smell it! If you get henna pwder, you'll have to make the paste the consitency of a sandwich spread...
Henna smells very different when its a paste, when its applied on the hands and is in the process of drying and when it has dried... the pattern that remains on the hand after the henna has flakes off, has a more subtle smell of its own, that stays for a day or two...
